Getting started with the Furry Fitness App 🐶

Key tips to kick off your journey toward pet parent super-skills

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Hi there — and welcome to the Furry Fitness family!

We (and your furry friend 🐾) are super excited to have you on board 💙

This short guide will help you get the most out of the app and start your dog care journey the right way.

1️⃣ Consistency is Key 🥇

Dogs love routines — and they thrive on them.

The small things you do consistently add up to a healthier, happier dog.

👉 Try setting up an activity goal in the app that helps you measure your daily, weekly and monthly walks, runs (activities)

It’ll help you build consistency — and your dog will quickly learn to expect the same rhythm every day.

👉 Do our simple nutritional assessment and the app will remind you on feeding schedules and journaling your feeding.

💡 Insight: Dogs that live by consistent routines show lower stress levels and fewer behaviour issues.

2️⃣ Track Your Dog’s Most Important Health Metrics

Keeping an eye on just two simple numbers gives you powerful insight into your dog’s well-being.

🩵 2.1 Body Condition Score (BCS)

BCS is the #1 metric to understand your dog’s physical condition 🔍

Your dog’s Body Condition Score tells you if they’re at a healthy weight, overweight, or underweight.

You can measure it easily with our BCS Wizard — just follow the visual guide inside the app.

Once you’ve done your first check, the app automatically calculates your dog’s ideal weight and helps you monitor progress over time.

👉 New to BCS? Check our Help Centre guide for a quick 2-minute explainer.

⚖️ 2.2 Weight

Regular weigh-ins + BCS = powerful early warning system 🧭

Do a weigh-in at least once a month — you’ll be surprised how much insight those numbers give you.

Together with your BCS data, you’ll get a clear picture of your dog’s health trend and can act early if needed.

3️⃣ Understand Your Dog’s Overall Wellness

Dogs can feel pain or stress just like humans — but they can’t tell us in words 💔

Subtle changes in mood, sleep, or activity can signal discomfort, pain, or low mood.

Our Wellness Assessment helps you track these soft signals and notice patterns before they become problems. It will help you understand your dogs quality of life better.

A few quick check-ins each month can give you — and your vet — a full picture of your dog’s wellness journey.

4️⃣ Physical Activity = A Healthier Dog

Regular exercise is one of the most powerful tools for maintaining a healthy weight 🎽

Regular exercise is one of the most powerful tools for maintaining a healthy weight.

Use the Activity Tracker in the app to log daily walks and play sessions.

You’ll see your daily, weekly, and monthly progress right on your home screen.

5️⃣ Food: The Big Black Box of unknown 🍽️

What (and how much) your dog eats shapes everything from energy to coat shine.

Start using the Food Journal to track what your dog eats — including treats!

You’ll quickly see patterns that influence weight, energy levels, and digestion.

The app also helps calculate your dog’s daily energy requirement.

If your food isn’t listed, you can add it through our Food Wizard — every new submission helps grow our community-driven pet food database (we quality-assure all nutritional data).

The steps you need to take to get going with food journaling are:

  1. Take our nutritional assessment: we will ask you about the food you use and how much of it you provide to your dog.

  2. Based on the BCS data you have provided and the weight of your dog, we will tell you what the dog's Daily Energy Requirement (DER) is

  3. You can then store your food as a recipe

  4. When you want to journal the food, you log the recipe as a meal given

We’ll also remind you to log meals based on your feeding routine — keeping you consistent every day.

💡 Pro tip: Soon you’ll gain access to educational content on pet nutrition — one of the trickiest (and most important) parts of dog care 🤓

🐕‍🦺 Bonus Tip: Got More Than One Dog?

You can add all your dogs in the app and create your own Dog Team.

Switch between them easily and keep each dog’s data organized.

👉 Go to the settings of the app ⚙️ → You will find both your dog, and dog team section there.
